Wes Mendes - Prospect Profile

Baseball America - July 8th: "Mendes has a solid frame at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and throws with a loose arm action from a three-quarters slot. He has a deep mix of five distinct pitches and has improved his strike-throwing significantly as a junior. Mendes has a four-seam fastball that averages 92.5 mph and has been up to 96."

MLB -July : "An athletic 6-foot-1 left-hander, Mendes will use a robust five-pitch mix to keep hitters guessing. While his fastball sits around 92 mph and tops out at 96, it does feature some life upstairs with some angle to his glove side. His 80-mph changeup is his best secondary, a plus cambio he sells well with arm speed, the kind of offspeed offering that seems to pause in mid-air with late arm side depth to it."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "This year, he’s kept the ball in the park, unlike the prior two seasons, helping him cut his ERA by more than half from 2025. He does need a better breaking ball, as he throws two but doesn’t finish either one consistently. He looks like a high-probability back-end starter."
