Vahn Lackey - Prospect Profile

Baseball America - July 8th: "Lackey has done a nice job adding definition and strength to his 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame over the years, and he stands out for his exceptional defensive ability and athleticism at catcher. He has Gold Glove-caliber defensive upside, with all the physical and mental traits teams are looking for at the position."

Prospects 1500 - July 8th: "The number two college player is pretty clearly Lackey currently."

MLB -July : "Lackey's right-handed swing can get a little busy, but that doesn't prevent him from making consistent contact to all fields. He's extremely patient, rarely misses fastballs and has the plus raw power to provide 25-30 homers on an annual basis. His flat stroke produces too much groundball contact but he's driving balls harder than ever and in the air a bit more often this spring."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He’s extremely athletic with 55 speed and outstanding agility, getting up out of the crouch quickly on blocks or weak groundballs, with an 80 arm that just needs to be more consistent. He’s an excellent hitter for contact, with a 15 percent whiff rate this year, but he doesn’t have the raw power that Roch Cholowsky offers."
