Ryder Helfrick
Ht/Wt: 6' 1"/200 lbs
Position: C
Team: Arkansas

Ryder Helfrick - Prospect Profile

Baseball America - July 8th: "At 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, Helfrick is powerfully built and swings with both intent and high-level bat speed. He’s not the sort of player who tends to shorten up in two-strike counts, and that is evidenced both by the towering home runs he hits when he connects and the career 21.7% strikeout rate he’s posted when he doesn’t."

Prospects 1500 - July 8th: "He has the skills to handle a major league pitching staff right away. Don’t sleep on his bat, he popped 15 home runs (or more) in the past two seasons and has made significant strides in his approach this season with more walks than strikeouts."

MLB -July : "More advanced than most college catchers, Helfrick already calls pitches and excels at running a staff. He shows impressive physical skills behind the plate as well, grading as a quality receiver, framer and blocker. He has a strong arm that will be even more effective if he cleans up his transfer and improves his accuracy."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He cut that way down to 25 percent this year, swinging less often on all pitches while also making much more contact on sliders. The improvement was mostly just a matter of better swing decisions, while he’s also moved a little further away from the plate. He hit a career-high 18 homers this year, thanks, in part, to more playing time, and has enough juice to project to 15-20 in the majors. "
