Mason Edwards - Prospect Profile
Baseball America - July 8th: "He posted a 2.07 ERA in 17 starts and 95.2 innings, while his 169 strikeouts led the nation. His 42.7% strikeout rate also was the best mark among qualified arms. Edwards is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound lefthander who works from a rocker-step windup, throws from a steep arm slot and has a crossfire finish in his delivery. He has a three-pitch mix that includes a fastball, curveball and changeup."Prospects 1500 - July 8th: "He had an ERA of 1.43 along with an 8-0 record that helped the Trojans become a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The 20-year-old may sneak into the first round thanks to efficiency inside the strike zone."
MLB -July : "He has a solid three-pitch mix and knows how to use it effectively. While his fastball typically sits in the 91-93 mph range, he can touch 95. There is some carry and “darkness” to his heater, leading to a 30-percent miss rate on the pitch in 2025, according to Synergy, a miss rate he maintained this spring."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He’s been up to 95 but sits more 90-92 and it’s not a great fastball, working now because hitters are so geared up for either of the other two pitches. He walked too many this year, 11.9 percent of batters faced, but the walk rate is low enough to hope he can bring it down slightly, and maybe attack more in the zone if someone can get a little more zing to his four-seamer. There’s risk that he gets too homer-prone in the high minors as is, but he strikes me as the perfect guy for a team with a decent pitching lab to play around with."
