Liam Peterson - Prospect Profile
Baseball America - July 8th: "He has a prototype starter’s frame at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and throws from a steep vertical arm slot. He throws a high-carry four-seam fastball that averages around 96 mph and has been up to 100. His fastball has clear plus traits and power, but he needs to improve his command to avoid throwing middle-middle heaters that get hit hard."Prospects 1500 - July 8th: "Peterson is not as polished as Kade Anderson was going into the draft and will therefore probably not move as quickly through the system. It has been an uneven season this year for Peterson and there is still work to be done on his command."
MLB -July : "The 6-foot-5 Peterson presents an exciting combination of now stuff and projection. His fastball sat in the mid-90s as a sophomore and he’s shown the ability to reach back for 98-99 mph, both last spring and in short looks this fall. The pitch can show good carry at times, though it can flatten out occasionally and get hit more than it should."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Peterson is stuff over performance, not that the performance has been bad, but he has frontline stuff that you’d think would produce better results. He has one of the best arsenals of any starter in the class, sitting 93-98 with a plus slider, above-average curveball and a straight changeup that’s average now, but I think points to the potential for a better changeup option down the road."
