Liam Peterson - Prospect Profile

Jim Callis - MLB - September 16th: "While Peterson ranks as the best college pitching prospect for 2026, he could use more consistency after posting a 4.28 ERA and 96/32 K/BB ratio in 69 1/3 innings last spring. There's still projection remaining in his 6-foot-5 frame and he already can miss bats with three pitches: a mid-90s fastball that reaches 99 mph with carry as well as a mid-80s slider and a changeup that both feature depth."

Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - August 20th: "After racking up 77 strikeouts in 63 innings as a true freshman, Peterson took a nice step forward during his sophomore season, posting a 4.28 ERA in 69.1 innings while making strides with his walk rate (14.6 to 10.5 percent) and strikeout rate (25.6 to 31.5 percent). He sits in the mid-90s with good life on his fastball, and he backs it with a changeup and slider that are both swing-and-miss offerings."

Jonathan Mayo - MLB - July 17th: "Expect another jump forward for the 6-foot-5 right-hander who has a fastball that sits 95-96 mph and touches 99. He also has the ability to miss bats with both a mid-80s slider and changeup, with an occasional slower curve for good measure."

Baseball America - July 16th: "The 6-foot-5 righthander features a mid-to-upper-90s fastball that flashes ample carry through the zone, a pitch he pairs with a mid-to-upper-80s slider that flashes sharp two-plane tilt, an above-average high-80s changeup that flashes both tumble and fade and a seldom-used high-70s-to-low-80s curveball that’s distinct in shape from his slider."
