Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - August 20th: "Emerson is an elite pure hitter with significant experience playing for Team USA, and while there is room for him to add strength to his 6'2", 180-pound frame and become more of a power threat, he has a hit-first approach and does a good job not chasing out of the zone. His bat will drive his value, but he is also a solid defensive shortstop who should be able to stick at the position."

Jonathan Mayo - MLB - July 17th: "He was the runner-up in this year's High School Home Run Derby, which surprised some because he has a hit-over-power profile, but clearly the raw pop is in there. He could be a plus hitter from the left side and has solid all-around skills, including clean actions and good arm strength from shortstop."
