Jim Callis - MLB - September 16th: "Gaeckle was more dominant as a freshman than as a sophomore, though he did star at the MCWS last June and finished with a 4.42 ERA and a 92/31 K/BB ratio in 71 1/3 innings. If he can improve his control and command, he has the four-pitch mix (highlighted by a mid-90s fastball that's up to 98 mph and mid-80s slider up to 90 mph) to work in the front half of a big league rotation."

Baseball America - July 16th: "An undersized righthander, Gaeckle is six feet tall and 190 pounds with a strong lower-half. He has a drop-and-drive delivery with a degree of explosiveness and big-time arm speed. Gaeckle’s fastball has been up to 98 mph, though it will sit more 92-95 by the fourth inning or so. It jumps out of his hand and flashes run and ride through the zone and, unsurprisingly, is at its best when located in the top half of the zone and to his arm side."
