Coleman Borthwick - Prospect Profile
Baseball America - July 8th: "Borthwick is a massive righthander with a 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame that would not look out of place in a big league uniform. He’s the top-ranked high school righthander in the class thanks to his physicality, pure stuff and standout athleticism that leads to impressive control and command."MLB -July : "Borthwick has the size, pitch mix and makeup to be a future workhorse starter near the top of a big league rotation one day. While he’ll sit 93-95 mph mostly with his fastball, he’s shown the ability to get the heater up to 97-98 mph with good life up in the zone and to both sides of the plate. His best secondary offering is a hard 84-85 mph slider that can flash plus and miss a ton of bats."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Borthwick struggled out of the gate, showing up with a thicker body and less velocity early in the spring, but he continued to improve as the season progressed, sitting more 94-95 later in the year and hitting 98 in the playoffs while filling up the zone with the fastball. He works primarily with that pitch, getting good ride on it thanks to a high spin rate, with a promising slider as his main secondary weapon, throwing everything from a low three-quarters slot and hiding the ball well."
