Xavier Neyens
Ht/Wt: 6' 4"/210 lbs
Position: 3B
Team: Mount Vernon (Wash.) HS

Xavier Neyens - Prospect Profile

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Neyens is a lefty hitter with 70-grade power and can also play third base, with shades of Joey Gallo."

MLB.com - July 1st: "Neyens has long been seen by area scouts as a potentially elite hitter from the left side of the plate with an outstanding approach. He made some adjustments to his setup and swing, adding leverage and starting to show off at least plus raw power and the ability to not only get to it, but to do so to all fields."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He has hit well this spring against local competition, but at tracked events last summer/fall and this spring he’s shown too much propensity to whiff on pitches in the zone — 23 percent of the time he swings at them, including fastballs in the upper half. He doesn’t chase, with a swing rate on pitches out of the zone of just 11 percent in those same events, so the issue is contact on strikes, not ball/strike recognition."

Baseball America - June 25th: "A 6-foot-4, 205-pound shortstop, Neyens has tons of physicality and strength now, with a frame that has plenty of room for more in the future. He has a relaxed, upright stance in the batter’s box before taking a standard leg kick and stride with his lower half and a typical load with his hands."

Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "With an advanced approach, top-of-the-scale bat-to-ball skills, and loud power from the left side, Neyens’ offensive potential is sky-high. He is rather passive, but Neyens does a good job of staying within the zone and limiting chases."

Prep Baseball Draft HQ - March 19th: "Neyens’ high school spring in the Pacific Northwest just started last week, though he did already collect his first homer of the year. The physicality from a pretty left-handed swing is always going to draw eyes, and we think that’ll still earn him a selection inside the middle of the first round."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "… a hitter with 70-grade power potential and a tremendous eye at the plate. I’m also pretty confident about his defensive ability at the hot corner."

Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "Neyens is a strong, athletic infielder with some real power but a questionable approach, whiffing on nearly a quarter of the pitches he saw in the zone last summer while also taking a ton of strikes. He loads his hands very deep and his timing on pitches isn’t great, but he swings very hard so when he does connect, the ball goes."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 21st: "Neyens is a classic power-and-patience lefty with a lot of raw power, but a questionable infielder with bat-to-ball issues in the summer."
