Steele Hall - Prospect Profile
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Hall reclassified from the 2026 class last fall, so he's one of the youngest players who will be picked on Day 1, a huge positive indicator historically speaking. I've compared his ability to pack tools into a smaller frame (5-foot-11, maybe shorter) and also lift/pull the ball in games to Anthony Volpe, Jett Williams and Trea Turner."MLB.com - July 1st: "A twitchy athlete, Hall has at least plus-plus speed and earns top-of-the-scale 80 grades from some evaluators. He's a lock to stay at shortstop with good actions, range to both sides and the ability to make throws from a variety of angles."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He has excellent bat speed and can hit a fastball, with close to average power already at age 17. He can’t hit breaking stuff, though, with whiff rates near 50 percent when he saw them at tracked events last summer/fall, although the sample isn’t huge because he only reclassified into the 2025 draft in December."
Baseball America - June 25th: "Hall had a tremendous offseason and packed a lot more strength onto his frame which, when paired with a dynamic tool set, rocketed him up draft boards and into first-round consideration. He is an aggressive hitter with a quick, handsy swing that comes with an operation that has been quieted down this spring."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "Hall is a twitchy athlete with plenty of bounce in the dirt, showcasing exceptional range at shortstop. It’s a very quick first step with great instincts and a strong throwing arm across the diamond, giving him the tools to stick there."
Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "Hall’s defensive ability, quick-twitch actions and arm strength stuck out to me the first time I saw him play. I was previously concerned about his size."
Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "He’s a plus runner who projects to stick at shortstop, while as a hitter he shows good bat speed, loading his hands a little low to try to put the ball in the air more frequently. He played at some showcases and travel events last summer, where he hammered fastballs but had some trouble picking up spin."
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 21st: "Hall is also rising, and scouts are rushing to see him after he reclassified late in the process (so they haven't seen him as much as his peers) and he is very young for the class (so model-driven teams will be much higher on him)."
