Slater De Brun - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - July 1st: "He has very impressive bat-to-ball skills with an advanced eye at the plate, understanding that his job is to put the ball in play and get on base, then using his well-above-average speed on the basepaths. Power may never be a huge part of his game, but while some evaluators worried about impact, de Brun showed up this spring with added strength and more ability to drive the ball from the left side of the plate, displaying more physicality than Carroll at this stage."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "De Brun is a diminutive outfielder from the Pacific Northwest, like Corbin Carroll was; de Brun is listed at 5-10 but may be shorter than that, and like last year’s fun-sized first-rounder Slade Caldwell, he has excellent feel to hit and projects to stay in center field. He takes a solid stride to get his lower half involved, but it’s a slashy swing and he can wrap the bat a little behind his head, creating some extra length to the ball."

Baseball America - June 25th: "In a 2025 class deep with high school shortstops, de Brun is the top prep outfielder. He’s undersized at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, but has a strong tool set and a similar overall profile to recent speedy, first-round outfielders such as Slade Caldwell, Braylon Payne and Dillon Head. While de Brun isn’t physically imposing, he has done a nice job adding strength to his frame over the last two years."

Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "There’s very little to hate at the plate, as de Brun has posted incredibly healthy contact rates and rarely expands the zone, getting on base frequently where he can be a basepath menace. His bat speed is top-notch, though the swing plane is more suited for line drives to the gaps than fly balls over the fence."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "Extremely young for the class, I think he’s got a chance for above-average hitting ability and plus defense in center as a near double-plus runner. Just one of the players you find yourself really liking every time you see him play."

Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "De Brun is small, listed at 5-9, but he has a great swing, makes pretty hard contact, and can definitely stick in center field due to his plus speed. He’ll get compared quite a bit to Corbin Carroll based on size and geography, and to last year’s No. 28 pick Slade Caldwell based on size; I think he slots in between the two."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 21st: "De Brun shows shades of Slade Caldwell from last year's draft (29th overall to Arizona). Some have mentioned Corbin Carroll as a comp, but you have to squint to see that."
