Riley Quick - Prospect Profile
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Quick is a former four-star offensive tackle prospect who could have five plus pitches, but he has already had Tommy John surgery and his command is below average."MLB.com - July 1st: "Quick has the power stuff to go in the first round, beginning with a heavy sinker that sits at 96-97 mph and tops out at 99, and the 6-foot-6, 255-pounder holds his velocity throughout his starts. His mid-80s slider can be a wipeout offering with two-plane depth, and he can turn it into a cutter that climbs as high as 95 mph."br>
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He also throws a slider that has big break from high spin rates, but changes his arm slot enough — by about 8 inches of release height — for hitters to pick it up, and has begun working in a cutter at 91-93. His arm is often late, which may be contributing to the issues with the slider, and he comes back across his body with some head-snap at release."
Baseball America - June 25th: Because of his multi-sport background, Quick is still relatively new to focusing on pitching full-time, and he’s steadily grown into a flame-throwing righthander. Quick pitched in the bullpen as an Alabama freshman in 2023 then had Tommy John surgery in 2024."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "A physically imposing figure on the bump at 6’6, 245 pounds, Quick gets a ton of extension from a release height under six feet off the dirt. He utilizes the horizontal axis of the zone heavily with his arsenal, which starts with a heavy heater in the upper-90s that has tickled the triple digit barrier."
A scout - Baseball America - March 10th: "Upper-90s fastball is real heavy. Upper-80s slider is nasty and the mid-80s changeup could be plus, as well. The big and durable frame is what they look like, and he gets to his velocity easily."
Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "He’s got a power slider in the upper 80s with near-straight downward break and a very firm changeup up to 90 that he hasn’t been able to get down consistently. It’s easy, huge velocity, though, and if he keeps this up while stretching out he’s got a shot to get into the top 10."
