Quentin Young - Prospect Profile
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "He's a nephew of former big leaguers Dmitri and Delmon, has true 80-grade power potential and can play third base if not shortstop, but he had the worst contact rate of any prospect last summer. You have to believe he's an outlier who has outlier skills and also can make outlier adjustments."MLB.com - July 1st: "He has huge raw power that some evaluators put top-of-the-scale grades on. He has bat speed and some feel to hit, but there are some swing-and-miss concerns and trouble recognizing spin that cropped up over the summer, leading some to worry a bit about how much he’ll tap into that raw pop consistently."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He’s improved his plate discipline and swing decisions, and he’s much more balanced through contact as he’s getting his front leg down more consistently. He has plus power right now, although he probably has a 40 hit tool even after the adjustments, and you’re betting on him continuing to make improvements in pro ball."
Baseball America - June 25th: "Young is an above-average runner who moves well for his size but should slide from shortstop to either third base or an outfield corner in pro ball. He has one of the better arms in the class—a 70-grade missile launcher that would be an asset at third base or in right field—but his actions aren’t quick and crisp enough for shortstop."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "Another reclassification from the 2026 ranks, Young is as tooled up as they come. Young is an extremely tall, lanky prospect with a ton of projection remaining to his frame, plus he’s an excellent athlete on the field."
A scout - Baseball America - March 10th: "Big league bloodlines and 30-homer potential. Cannon for an arm, will play right field at the next level. Above-average runner underway and profiles nicely in right with power. Will be fun to watch him develop, considering the inconsistency with contact."
