Luke Stevenson
Ht/Wt: 6' 1"/200 lbs
Position: C
Team: North Carolina

Luke Stevenson - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - July 1st: "His power plays from left-center to the right-field foul pole and could translate into 25 homers per season. He has a reasonably disciplined approach but struggles to make contact against quality fastballs and changeups."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Everything else about him would seem to indicate that he’s one of the best prospects in the draft: He makes a ton of hard contact, he knows the strike zone and he’s good enough to stick at catcher. His hard-hit rate of 57 percent was one of the best in Division I this year, and he topped out at 114.6 mph, with a strong but simple swing that I don’t think will require much if any adjustment in the future."

Baseball America - June 25th: "A 6-foot-1, 210-pound lefthanded hitter, Stevenson has strong on-base skills and hit .267/.417/.543 with 33 home runs and a 19.1% walk rate in his college career. He’s an above-average defender who embraces the role of being a team leader behind the plate."

Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "He’s built like a stereotypical catcher with a stout lower half and present strength throughout his body. He’s got explosive motions out of the crouch and handles the run game well, showcasing a strong arm and pop times to second have been clocked at 1.9-1.95 seconds."

Prep Baseball Draft HQ - March 19th: "Still, he’s managed to outdo his glowing preseason projections to this point, hitting .309 with a 1.147 OPS and seven homers in 20 games for North Carolina so far. The draft-eligible sophomore also looks the part of a big league catcher, which has helped him leap even further up this board."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "He’s not off to a scorching start offensively, but he’s walking a quarter of the time and doesn’t have huge strikeout concerns for me. Pair that with solid raw power and his excellent defensive ability at the most premium position on the diamond, and it makes him look like a rock solid regular."

Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "He has a plus arm that plays down due to a long release, and he’s a below-average receiver, so there will likely be some teams that evaluate him as a bat with the probability that he ends up at first base."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 21st: "I'll likely jumble Bodine, Stevenson and Irish during the spring as they're the top college catchers in the class. Bodine has standout on-base skills, Stevenson is well-rounded and Irish is more power-forward."
