Lucas Franco - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - July 1st: "Though he's an average runner, Franco has a quick first step and covers ground to both sides at shortstop. He has smooth actions, quick hands, solid arm strength and the ability to make throws from a variety of angles. There's a chance that he'll slow down once he adds more muscle to his skinny 6-foot-3 frame, but his defensive tools and instincts should allow him to remain at short."

Baseball America - June 25th: "He’s a mature hitter with a calm, balanced approach and a picturesque lefthanded swing with a clean path through the zone. Franco has shown good pitch recognition and swing decisions. However, he has just modest bat speed, and many scouts wished they saw a bit more impact."

Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - August 14th: "He has a smooth left-handed swing with some natural loft that should one day lead to plenty of extra-base power. He also has all the defensive tools to stick at shortstop, though he could shift to third base if he outgrows the position once he packs on muscle."

Baseball America - July 17th: "At 6-foot-3, Franco has a lean, high-waist frame with a lot of room left to fill out. He’s already a mature hitter for his age with a calm, balanced approach from the left side. He’s a selective hitter who tracks pitches well, making good swing decisions."
