Liam Doyle - Prospect Profile
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "The question then becomes whether his general power approach to pitching and delivery with some effort will hold him back from turning over a lineup and make him a reliever. Doyle might be in the big leagues in the first half of 2026 in shorter stints while he's looking to answer that question."MLB.com - July 1st: "Doyle's success centers primarily around his fastball, which sat at 91-94 mph during his sophomore season and now operates in the mid-90s and peaks at 100. It has been the most untouchable heater in college baseball this year, coming out of a high release point and exploding at the top of the zone, and he topped D-I by finishing 105 strikeouts with the pitch."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He backs it up with a plus splitter up to 89 mph and an above-average slider in the low to mid 80s, both of which miss plenty of bats, with the splitter a weapon he’ll use against hitters on both sides of the plate. He works in the zone a ton, walking 8 percent of batters he’s faced, and isn’t afraid to attack hitters on the inner third."
Baseball America - June 25th: "Doyle attacks hitters with a high-effort delivery that features a harsh fall-off to the third base side and looks more like a reliever, but he has pitched as a starter with solid control for three years. His arsenal is centered on a high-usage fastball that sits 95-97 mph and touches 100 with excellent riding life."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "While he has been predominantly heater thus far, his splitter has shined in a small sample, displaying significant fading life and flashing plus. He has two breaking balls in a loopier slider and firmer cutter, but the bite is not quite there yet."
David Seifert - Prep Baseball Draft HQ - March 19th: "Starting with the biggest lefty riser, [Doyle] is the talk of the industry. Possessing top of the scale fastball life to go along with mid-to-upper-90s velocity that has peaked at 98.6 this spring, he’s jumped from an early day two prospect to a likely top ten overall pick. Statistically, his numbers are from a video game – 0.44 ERA and 47 strikeouts vs. five walks in 20.1 innings."
Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "His fastball is truly elite. He’s currently striking out 69.1% of the batters he’s faced, which is just absurd. I have some questions about the delivery and his secondaries, but an outlier fastball from the left side with this sort of performance in a starting role should be enough to shove him into the first round."
Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "...and he’s now sitting 96-98 with plus-plus life, so while he’s got a changeup and a hard slurve that are both above-average, he’s thrown about 75 percent fastballs through three starts because hitters can’t sniff it."
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 21st: "Doyle, plucked from Ole Miss in the transfer portal, has a plus fastball but needs to show progress with the rest of his repertoire to rise further."
