Jack Bauer
Ht/Wt: 6' 3"/175 lbs
Position: LHP
Team: Lincoln-Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.

Jack Bauer - Prospect Profile

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Prep LHP Jack Bauer hit 103 mph this spring (the hardest high school pitch ever thrown) and has a plus-plus slurve/sweeper, but he also walked a ton of hitters, so some teams aren't interested at a seven-figure price and some might be willing to take him in the comp/second round for big money."

MLB.com - July 1st: "Teams still aren't sure what exactly to make of Bauer's massive velocity jump. He has pitched in short stints while topping out around 95 mph in the third inning, and his heater lacks command and gets barreled more than it should by prep hitters. His high-spin slider now arrives in the low 80s with sweep and shows signs of becoming at least a solid offering."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He can generate huge spin rates on his breaking stuff, but because he doesn’t throw enough strikes with the fastball, he hasn’t developed enough feel for throwing and locating his slider, and casts it to try to get it in the zone rather than throwing it with conviction. He cuts himself off in his landing, and really, no one is throwing 102 without some effort anyway."br>
Baseball America - June 25th: "Hitting 102 mph is a rare feat for any pitcher—lefty or otherwise, amateur or not. It’s downright silly when you pair it with his still projectable 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame and an ability to rip off a breaking ball with 3,000 rpm of spin. Questions about Bauer’s control and the consistency of his secondaries are the only thing that will prevent him from becoming a first-round pick, and those are real questions to his game."
