Henry Ford - Prospect Profile
MLB.com - July 1st: "Ford is a big 6-foot-5 right-handed hitter whose value is tied almost entirely to his bat. It looked like it would play after getting to his pop right out of the gate, but he was having trouble lifting the ball as frequently as a sophomore."Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Ford is a very athletic outfielder who’s a plus defender at first and has plenty of bat speed to end up hitting for power, but this year he hit just 11 homers, down from 17 last year, and he doesn’t make good use of his legs to drive the ball. His approach is just OK, as he doesn’t miss much in the zone but chases way too many pitches, even well out of the zone, including fastballs anywhere above the midpoint of the zone and breaking stuff down and away."
Baseball America - June 25th: "Ford traded a bit of power for a bit of contact this year and slashed .362/.420/.575 with 11 home runs, a 13% strikeout rate and a 9.1% walk rate. Ford is an aggressive hitter with a stiff operation that includes a bucket stride in his lower half and a steep, uphill righthanded swing."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "While his swing is a bit stiff, Ford has quality barrel control and a ton of bat speed and loft, allowing him to tap into legitimate plus power in-game. Ford does a great job of handling velocity, especially against 95+ MPH, though his overall swing decisions and spin recognition need work."
Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "He has excellent bat speed and makes a lot of very hard contact, but is a little too prone to chase pitches out of the zone, something that’s continued in the early going this year. He turns 21 in July so he’s draft-eligible as a sophomore."
