Gage Wood - Prospect Profile

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Aloy's teammate Wood would rank right with Liam Doyle and Jamie Arnold if he was healthy and posting the whole spring, but he has had shoulder issues in the past, so teams are operating like he is a definite reliever who might start. If those concerns are unfounded, he'll be a steal."

MLB.com - July 1st: "Wood has one of the best fastballs in the Draft, sitting at 94-96 mph and reaching 98. Its combination of velocity and carry, along with his low release height and flat approach angle, produce elite rates of chases, as well as overall and in-zone swings and misses."

Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He’s been up to 98 and sits 95-96 with explosive ride on the pitch, with hitters pathetically whiffing 44 percent of the time on the fastball, then he hits ‘em with the 12/6 hammer at 83-85 or so, and there’s just a pile of ashes in the batter’s box. He does have a promising slider to give him something to pitch east-west as well, although he doesn’t have anything for lefties and they’ve slugged over .500 against him this spring."

Baseball America - June 25th: "While Wood only pitched 37.2 innings in his 2025 season across 10 starts, he posted a tremendous 46% strikeout rate and 4.7% walk rate. Wood is a stocky righthander with a 6-foot, 205-pound frame who attacks hitters with one of the best fastballs in the class. He sits in the upper 90s and will run the pitch up to 98 mph with great swing-and-miss traits at the top of the zone."

Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "Wood’s fastball is leaned upon heavily and it’s quite electric. He’s been up to 97 MPH and holds 94-96 MPH throughout his stints, generating solid extension for his size and flashing good carry and life upstairs. "
