Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - August 14th: "He has continued to raise his profile by putting up a gaudy .360/.480/.760 line with 11 home runs in 31 games in the Cape Cod League this summer. The 6'4", 230-pound slugger might end up limited to first base defensively, but his bat will play anywhere."

Jonathan Mayo - MLB - July 19th: "He came back with 21 homers as a sophomore, though his 25.2 percent strikeout rate might concern some. He has perhaps as much raw power as anyone in the class and a strong Cape Cod League showing could serve as a springboard to a huge junior season."

Baseball America - July 17th: "Petry is physical at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. He has a quiet setup in the box with an open front side and high handset. Petry uses a modified toe tap that leads into a normal stride, though his hands drop and drift, and his swing can get long at times."
