MLB.com - July 1st: "Shores can hit 101 mph and works at 94-98 with his fastball, but his heater is featuring less armside run and overpowering hitters less than it did in the past. While his mid-80s slider has good depth and has been his most reliable pitch in 2025, he doesn't always land it for strikes or get many chases with it."

Baseball America - June 25th: "He routinely pushes the heater into the triple digits and has been up to 102 mph. Yet it isn’t as much of a high-caliber swing-and-miss offering as his velocity suggests because Shores gets on the side of the ball with his release which, paired with his slot, creates plenty of running action on his fastball to induce loads of grounders."
