Brendan Summerhill - Prospect Profile
Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - July 8th: "Summerhill's exit velos were 55-grade (something like 20-25 homers annually in pro ball) last spring and summer, then were just above 40-grade (10-15 homers annually) this spring, but there wasn't a clear injury or mechanical change to explain it. Some teams think he could revert back to that old level of power and will be an average defensive center fielder."MLB.com - July 1st: "Considered by many to be the best player in the four corners region when healthy, Summerhill is a strong and athletic left-handed hitter who has the chance to be a dynamic player on both sides of the ball. He's shown a very good approach at the plate, walking nearly as often as he struck out in 2024 and limiting the swing-and-miss that some area scouts saw from him during his time in the Chicago high school ranks."
Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "He does have an elite hit tool with excellent zone control, rarely whiffing on strikes and staying in the zone more than the average hitter. He has shown enough hard contact in the past and early this season to project another half-grade of power with some swing help, but the hand injury clearly sapped some of that strength and his overall hard-hit data is down from his sophomore year."
Baseball America - June 25th: "With a 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame, he still has some physical projection remaining in his frame and has built up a solid track record as an advanced hitter, including a strong 2024 season in the Cape Cod League and a career .330/.434/.552 slash line with Arizona. Summerhill missed some time during his 2025 draft season with a fractured right hand, but when he was healthy he looked like perhaps the best college hitter in the class."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "It’s a beautiful left-handed stroke with easy motions, lightning-quick bat speed, and an uncanny ability to backspin the baseball. There are very few holes in Summerhill’s swing, as he has posted elite contact rates (87% in 2024 & 88% in 2025) and possesses great barrel feel."
Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "There might not be a carrying tool for Summerhill, but I think he’ll hit, have solid on-base ability and solid power to go with perfectly fine outfield play in a corner."
Keith Law - The Athletic - March 4th: "Summerhill is another high-floor guy, a very advanced hitter who should hit for average and looks like he should come into above-average to plus power. His swing is geared towards line-drive contact and he rarely misses pitches in the zone, so his future comes down to whether he can hit the ball harder as he finishes filling out physically."
