Brady Ebel - Prospect Profile
MLB.com - July 1st: "It’s clear he’s been around professional hitters, with a smooth left-handed swing and an advanced approach at the plate. He found the barrel consistently and performed well against high-level stuff over the summer, but concerns about bat speed and impact have carried over to his senior year."Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Ebel is a natural shortstop who’s playing third base for his high school team because their shortstop is first-rounder Billy Carlson, although in the long run Ebel’s going to end up at the hot corner anyway, or maybe at second, with his strong arm making third the more likely spot. I didn’t see good bat speed from him at NHSI, but he hasn’t had trouble with velocity, even up to 98, at showcases and other tracked events."
Baseball America - June 25th: "He’s an instinctual lefthanded hitter with a lengthy track record of performance, and the contact ability and batting eye to project an above-average hit tool. Ebel consistently sets up close to the plate and has a compact, efficient swing that gets into the hitting zone quickly and stays there for a long time, with impressive balance in his lower half that allows him to use the entire field fairly easily."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "He’s got the defensive chops to stick on the left side of the dirt, too. He may grow off of shortstop once he physically matures, but Ebel has excellent hands, rangy actions, and a strong arm to handle the position. If he outgrows shortstop, he’ll fit in at third base."
Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 10th: "His hit tool is the calling card and could be enough to get him popped in the first 30 picks. He’s also young for the class and still has room to fill out and add more strength."
