Angel Cervantes - Prospect Profile
MLB.com - July 1st: "Cervantes has an intriguing combination of repertoire and feel for pitching, with projection pointing to more in the tank as he matures. He has a chance to have three or four at least above-average offerings. His fastball is typically in the 90-93 mph range, but it's a four-seamer with excellent carry and ride with good spin up in the zone."Keith Law - The Athletic - July 1st: "Cervantes is the second-best high school pitcher in California this year, and if you get him on the right day you see a potential first-rounder. He’s been up to 97 with a plus changeup, working with a very easy delivery that gives him a chance to get to 55 or even 60 command."
Baseball America - June 25th: "He attacks hitters with a four-pitch mix and had a lights-out showing at the 2024 Area Code Games, where he struck out eight of the nine batters he faced. Cervantes sits in the low 90s with his fastball and will touch 94-95 mph, with the ability to land the pitch to both sides of the plate and generally command it at a level most high school pitchers can’t."
Tyler Jennings - Just Baseball - March 24th: "It’s led by a low-90s fastball that has a downhill plane with some ride and run to it. Given the projection of Cervantes’ frame, he could reach the mid-90s in due time and he’s already shown that, touching 96 MPH this spring."
