Nick Kurtz
Ht/Wt: 6' 5"/240 lbs
Position: 1B/OF
Team: Wake Forest

Nick Kurtz - Prospect Profile

Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - July 7th: "In roughly one full MLB season's worth of games (164) over three years at Wake Forest, he hit .333/.510/.725 with 61 home runs and 182 RBI while tallying far more walks (189) than strikeouts (130). He will go as far as his left-handed bat carries him, but with a strong 6'5", 240-pound frame and a 60-hit, 65-power profile, that could all the way to MLB stardom."

Ayrton Ostly - USA Today - July 4th: "Kurtz dealt with a rotator cuff injury to start the season but still finished the year eighth in the NCAA in on-base percentage (0.531) with 78 walks, the most in the country."

Baseball America - July 1st: "Kurtz has a terrific blend of raw power and advanced bat-to-ball skills with a surprisingly compact swing and a great batting eye. He never expands the zone and is content to take free passes when pitchers work him carefully."

MLB.com - July 1st: "Kurtz's signature tool is his well-above-average power to all fields, the product of outstanding bat speed, strength and a left-handed stroke designed to drive balls in the air. More than just a slugger, he's a complete hitter with no discernible weakness who crushes left-handers and right-handers and all types of pitches."

Prospects Live - May 29th: "He's not getting a ton to hit and he's struggled to find green as a result, but it's hard to ignore the double-plus power and elite plate discipline that Kurtz possesses. He's walking at an incredibly high rate while also keeping strikeouts to a minimum."

Keith Law - The Athletic - May 22nd: "Kurtz has an exceptional eye at the plate, with an overall chase rate around 16 percent and, more impressively, chase rates on breaking stuff at just 12 percent — that is, pitchers can’t just throw sliders or curveballs down and away when they’re ahead in the count and get him to expand the zone."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - May 8th: "A teammate of Burns at Wake Forest, Kurtz gives some Anthony Rizzo vibes with plus hit, power, approach and defense at first base."
