Nick Kurtz
Ht/Wt: 6' 5"/235 lbs
Position: 1B/OF
Team: Wake Forest

Nick Kurtz - Prospect Profile

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - March 18th: "Scouts still view him as a top-10 pick at this point because he was putting together quality at-bats consistently and looked like the hitter he was expected to be, but with a first base profile he’ll need to put up numbers to secure a top five pick when he comes back to the field."

Joe Doyle - Future Star Series - March 18th: "Some evaluators believe Kurtz may be the best power hitter in the 2024 class, and that’s saying a lot considering some of the names he’s mentioned alongside. It’s absolutely mammoth bat speed and buggy hips from the left side."

MLB.com - March 8th: "Kurtz's signature tool is his well-above-average power to all fields, the product of outstanding bat speed, strength and a left-handed stroke designed to drive balls in the air. More than just a slugger, he's a complete hitter with no discernible weakness who crushes left-handers and right-handers and all types of pitches."

Keith Law - The Athletic - March 7th: "Kurtz walks a ton, 63 times in 56 games last year and 14 times in 11 games so far this spring, with some power, although 29 of his career 41 homers have come at Wake’s homer-friendly ballpark. The horror here is that he’s limited to first base."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - February 23rd: "Some scouts think he could be a 70-grade hitter and power hitter, which is something like .280 and 35 homers in the majors -- basically what the 5-WAR peak of Anthony Rizzo looked like."

Aram Leighton - Just Baseball - February 15th: "Kurtz’s impressive body control and ability to do damage from all areas of the zone minimize the whiff that typically comes from a hitter of his profile with a lofty swing. He rarely chases."
