Malcolm Moore - Prospect Profile

Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - July 7th: "Moore did not have the junior season many were expecting, hitting .255/.414/.553 with 16 home runs and 36 RBI in 54 games, but beneath his mediocre batting average he showed a much better all-around approach at the plate."

Ayrton Ostly - USA Today - July 4th: "Compared to Janek, his bat is more productive but his glove isn't, giving a consideration to a potential position change."

Baseball America - July 1st: "The 6-foot-2, 216-pound catcher took a step backward in his draft-eligible 2024 season and hit just .255/.414/.553, though his plate discipline improved. He hit 16 home runs and was probably the victim of poor luck on balls in play. Moore is a lefthanded hitter and bat-first prospect who employs a unique setup at the plate."

MLB.com - July 1st: " He makes a lot of hard contact to all fields and has easily plus raw power he showed he can tap into with 15 home runs as a freshman. He’s shown he can have an advanced approach at the plate, including doing damage with two strikes, though he wore out catching every day in his first year of college."

Prospects Live - May 29th: "It's a very unorthodox setup at the dish with Moore, who employs a narrow, open stance with a rapid toe-tapping mechanism that he uses for his timing. It's a quiet load before he explodes through the strike zone with a ton of bat speed and a good bit of leverage, giving him above-average power potential up the middle and to his pull side."

Keith Law - The Athletic - May 22nd: "Moore is going to end up with a team that values batted-ball data over performance — he’s had terrible luck at the plate this spring but he’s not punching out and his contact quality points to a higher average than he’s had on balls in play."
