Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - July 7th: "The 6'4", 200-pound southpaw went from throwing in the upper 80s as a junior to bumping 97 mph this spring, and his secondary stuff has similarly ticked up. He turned 19 years old in February, which will scare some teams off."

He throws with a clean arm action from a three-quarters slot with an operation that screams starter. After previously pitching in the upper 80s and touching 91 mph, Mayfield now throws a fastball that is consistently in the low to mid 90s and has been up to 97."

Keith Law - The Athletic - May 22nd: "Mayfield is 93-98 with an above-average slider and good feel for a changeup, with surprisingly low effort for that kind of arm strength. He also gets good ride on the four-seamer and repeats his delivery well enough to project future above-average command."
