Colby Shelton - Prospect Profile

Baseball America - July 1st: "His production took a slight step backward in 2024, when he hit .256/.381/.573 with 20 home runs in 61 games. A 6-foot, 200-pound lefthanded hitter, Shelton is strong with all-fields power that comes with plenty of swing-and-miss."

Joe Doyle - Future Star Series - March 18th: "He's a bigger-bodied infielder with bat speed in the tank, but he generally saves it for BP and takes a more hitterish approach in game. He's one of the best hitters in the country in terms of creating backspin on the baseball as is evidenced by his gaudy 21 percent groundball rate in 2023."

MLB.com - March 8th: " There is some feel for hitting and finding the barrel, and after he struck out 25 percent of the time as a freshman for the Crimson Tide, he showed up with a more flattened out stroke this fall, rather than his previous swing, which was much steeper into the zone. It’s not elite-level bat speed, but he should be able to get to at least average pop at the next level and drawing a good number of walks helps get to his power."
