Team: Oklahoma State

Carson Benge - Prospect Profile

Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - July 7th: "He prefers to hit and his future is likely as an everyday position player with pitching as an intriguing fallback if he fails to develop as hoped. His bat-to-ball skills and elite exit velocity numbers help legitimize his breakout offensive performance, and he has more untapped potential than most college players."

Ayrton Ostly - USA Today - July 4th: "Benge is versatile at the plate and on defense; he was a semifinalst for the John Olerud Award this year (won by Caglianone). He boasts a combination of top exit velocities and bat-to-ball skills."

Baseball America - July 1st: "A 6-foot-1, 184-pound outfielder and lefthanded hitter, Benge has hit well over .300 in both of his seasons in the Big 12 Conference, with great plate discipline and solid power to go along with his contact skills. He has a noisy swing that features a wide and open setup, a sizable leg kick and some hand movement throughout his load, but he’s made it work in college with a solid 82% overall contact rate and more than enough bat speed to handle big league velocity."

MLB.com - July 1st: "A left-handed hitter, he controls the strike zone and uses the opposite field exceptionally well. He should have solid power thanks to his combination of hitting ability and bat speed, and he did a better job of turning on and lifting more pitches as this spring progressed."

Prospects Live - May 29th: "Benge's plate discipline is pretty advanced, walking more than he strikes out and he doesn't chase much. His swing is rather explosive with solid bat speed, and he's shown solid power to his pull side in batting practice, though Benge has mainly attacked the opposite field in-game as his point of contact is a bit shallow and he can get jammed easily."

Keith Law - The Athletic - May 22nd: "His swing is slappy, though, and he meets the ball out front too often, with relatively low launch angles as a result, making him a great target for a team that has had success helping guys who can really hit turn that into more line-drive contact."
