Joel Reuter - Bleacher Report - July 7th: "Rainer impressed on the showcase circuit last summer, then showed up for his senior season "bigger, stronger and faster" to steadily climb draft boards all spring and move ahead of Griffin as the leading candidate to be the first high school hitter off the board."

Ayrton Ostly - USA Today - July 4th: "The only new name is Rainer who is close with Griffin as one of the top high school talents in the draft. The 6-foot-3 shortstop was one of the top players at the National High School Invitational this spring."

Baseball America - July 1st: "A 6-foot-3, 195-pound, lefthanded-hitting shortstop, Rainer has legitimate upside as a hitter and pitcher, but his preference to play the field—as well as his improved hit tool—give him more upside in the batter’s box. He has a sound approach at the plate with big raw power that should become plus in the future."

MLB.com - July 1st: "Rainer has a ton of tools in all directions. At 6-foot-3 and listed at 195 pounds, he has a strong and projectable body. While his swing used to get long at times, with a tendency to wrap the bat behind his head, a stronger Rainer has shown the ability to make consistently hard contact from the left side of the plate."

Prospects Live - May 29th: "It's legitimate 20-25 HR potential when he's fully developed. It's a fluid left-handed swing with quick hands, though he has run into some swing-and-miss concerns this summer and tends to corkscrew himself when he pulls the ball."

Keith Law - The Athletic - May 22nd: "He’s by far the best high school infielder in the class, a plus defender at short with a 70 arm who is 93-94 off the mound as well (but, I’m told, doesn’t want to be a two-way guy, to which I say hallelujah). He also shows incredible instincts and leadership on the field."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - May 8th: "Rainer is a big left-handed hitting shortstop with plus power who projects to stay at the position, so there's a clear Corey Seager parallel. The concern about Rainer is that he is older for his draft class (a strong historical negative across all high school position players) and was just OK at the plate last summer."
