Paul Skenes
Ht/Wt: 6' 6"/235 lbs
Position: RHP
Team: LSU

Paul Skenes - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - May 19th: "Physically imposing at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, Skenes is athletic with the body control to repeat a sound delivery and provide plenty of strikes. A classic No. 1 starter, he'd also factor into the top three rounds as a position player thanks to his huge right-handed power to all fields and projected solid defense at first base."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - May 11th: "Given the offensive environment in college baseball there’s a fairly easy case to be made that the separation from Skenes and the next best pitcher is more significant than the separation from Crews and whoever you think is the next best hitter."

Jim Callis - MLB.com - May 4th: "Skenes has been just as spectacular as his teammate, topping D-I in strikeouts (124) and strikeout rate (17.1 per nine innings, ahead of Ryan Wagner's all-time record of 16.8 in 2003). He's the best college pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg in 2009, and Strasburg was the best ever."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - May 3rd: "In particular, Skenes' frame, athleticism, delivery and strikes quality are a cut above recent college pitching prospects with comparable stuff and performance. That variable will make it easier to weather the difficulties he'll face on the road to establishing himself as a big league rotation member, which could realistically be next season."

Prospects Live - April: "With a lively high 90s fastball that touches 100, a sharp mid 80s slider and tailing high 80s changeup, Skenes possesses top of the rotation stuff that has finally seen the uptick scouts have been expecting since he burst onto the national radar as a freshman."
