Position: RHP
Team: Florida

Hurston Waldrep - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - May 19th: "While Waldrep is generally around the strike zone, there is a little effort in his up-tempo delivery, causing some inconsistencies with his command and control, which led to an uptick in his walk rate this spring. Those kinds of things can be ironed out, and his pure stuff still has him in early first-round conversations."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - May 11th: "Sure, Waldrep has continued to miss the zone with his entire arsenal at a concerning rate (he currently has a career-high 13.7% walk rate) but the dude misses bats. He’s third in the country with 102 strikeouts and he’s eighth with a 35.1% strikeout rate."

Jim Callis - MLB.com - May 4th: "Waldrep's upper-90s fastball and mid-80s slider and splitter/changeup all can earn plus or better grades at their best, though he's still working to harness them."

Prospects Live - April: "The case can be made that Hurston Waldrep has the best pure stuff metrically in the 2023 draft. The fastball projects plus, the changeup projects plus or better, there’s a curveball and slider that are both legitimate weapons too."
