Kahlil Watson
Ht/Wt: 5'9"/178 lbs
Position: SS
Team: Wake Forest HS (NC)

Kahlil Watson - Prospect Profile

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - June 18: "Watson isnít the most physical player youíll see, listed at 5-foot-9, 178 pounds, but there are scouts in the industry who believe his combination of athleticism, tools and defensive profile give him the most upside in the class."

MLB - June: "He has plenty of bat speed and takes a big left-handed cut, giving him plus raw pop. Though he has an aggressive power-over-hit approach that may need toning down against more advanced pitchers, he does make consistent contact and doesn't chase pitches out of the strike zone too often. "

Prospects Live - May 31: "The bat-to-ball skills for Watson rival just about any of the top prep shortstops in this class. A lofty, left-handed stroke, Watson still has plenty of body to project good weight on."

Prospects Live - Mar. 18: "Watsonís hit tool still needs to catch up to his bat speed and pro power potential. Itís sneaky-big pop. Heís shown the tools to stick at shortstop long term as well, with high level instincts and a strong arm on the dirt."

Michael Dault - Through The Fence Baseball - Mar. 13th: "Watson is a speedy shortstop, who plays bigger than his 5í9? frame. He knows how to pick pitches to hit and never chases outside stuff, especially when behind on counts."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - Feb. 26th: "Watson had a solid summer, is younger than many of his peers, can hit, and there is above-average power projection to go with solid athleticism."

R.J. Anderson - CBS Sports - Feb. 15th: "In addition to being a capable shortstop and runner, he has one of the prettiest and most mature swings in the class. Watson creates oodles of torque, a byproduct of the separation he achieves between his upper and lower halves during his load."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - Jan. 26th: "Watson has plenty of athleticism and some of the best pure bat speed in the class. He might not be challenged too much against North Carolina prep pitching, so heíll need to dominate the competition to provide confidence in his hit tool, and adding strength to a smaller frame could also give teams confidence."

Ian Smith - Prospects 365 - Nov. 8: "Watson has earned first round grades all summer long with a potent left-handed swing that creates unreal natural loft and showing plus raw power potential. The plate approach could be an even better part of his game, which will help the hit tool become a reliable facet of the skillset as a professional."
