Position: C
Team: Williamsville East HS (NY)

Joe Mack - Prospect Profile

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - June 18: "A below-average runner, Mack isn't a polished defender, but he made significant progress behind the plate in 2020, increasing his chances to stick behind the plate. He is quick and a solid athlete for a catcher with an explosive lower half, good hands and plus arm strength to dial in pop times in the 1.9-second range in games."

MLB - June: "Mack has the chance to be an impact player on both sides of the ball. The left-handed hitter has the chance to be an above-average hitter, showing off an advanced approach all summer with an impressive ability to pick up base hits with two strikes."

Prospects Live - May 31: "A simple but powerful left handed stroke that's shown power to all fields. Consistently barreled up in all the big events this summer. Many believe Mack to be the best catching product in the class, bar none."

Prospects Live - Mar. 18: "Mack was among the most consistent hitters on the circuit last summer, barreling up pitches in virtually all the big showcases. Many believe Mack has the best chance of any prep catcher to stick behind the plate in the class thanks to his athleticism, hands, and throwing ability."

Michael Dault - Through The Fence Baseball - Mar. 13th: "Mack has proven he can be a quality catcher offensively and defensively. While he is committed to Clemson, many believe if selected in the first round that he’ll sign."

R.J. Anderson - CBS Sports - Feb. 15th: "Mack is a high-school catcher from New York with swing-and-miss issues. That combination of words is going to sink him for some teams. Those who remain have a greater appetite for risk, and for reward."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - Jan. 26th: "Like Ford, there aren’t any glaring weaknesses in Mack’s profile. He will similarly have to overcome the poor track record of high school catchers - arguably the worst single demographic in the draft."
