Jack Leiter
Ht/Wt: 6' 1"/205 lbs
Position: RHP
Team: Vanderbilt

Jack Leiter - Prospect Profile

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - June 18: "This spring, Leiter has primarily worked with a fastball, curveball, slider combination. His fastball has been up to 98 mph, but averages 93-95 mph, with excellent carry that generates plenty of whiffs in the zone and above it."

MLB - June: "Leiter usually works at 90-95 mph and tops out at 97 with his fastball, which plays like an elite pitch because of its riding life and outstanding metrics, such as its induced vertical break. He gets an exceptional amount of swings and misses in the strike zone with his heater."

Prospects Live - May 31: "Leiter's stuff has always been projectable. He's come out this spring comfortably sitting 92-97, touching 98. It’s a true 70-grade fastball and a real weapon. His secondaries are still developing but he has a trio of pitches in his 12-6 curveball, changeup, and slider that all have a shot at being average."

Prospects Live - Mar. 18: "Over the first four weeks of the season Leiter has shown an analytically attractive fastball pairing velocity, shape, and a flat VAA, with a trio of secondaries. The command has been spotty and his early competition hasn’t been tremendous, but the stuff, pitch mix and poise on the mound have won him his fans"

Michael Dault - Through The Fence Baseball - Mar. 13th: "His 12-6 curve is devastating and the rest of his arsenal is scary good. If he goes before Rocker I wouldn’t be surprised."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - Feb. 26th: "Leiter works in the mid-90s, has an easy plus curveball and possesses the command, plan and execution you'd want to see given his power and mostly vertically oriented arsenal."

R.J. Anderson - CBS Sports - Feb. 15th: "He also stands to benefit from the era in which he pitches: smaller starters (he's listed at 6-foot) are now viewed more favorably because of the flat plane they create at the top of the zone, and because of declining workload expectations."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - Jan. 26th: "Additionally, Leiter didn’t quite live up to his high school reputation as an advanced strike-thrower, with eight walks (4.6 walks per nine) in 15.2 innings, so showing better command in 2021 will also help. Starting over a full season and refining his changeup are other keys that scouts have mentioned."

Ian Smith - Prospects 365 - Nov. 8: "Jack Leiter has one of the better fastball in this entire class, and he has popped a few 97s this fall. We’ll receive affirmation of the pitch’s eliteness this spring. He pairs that with a deep bag of secondaries including a slider and curveball that both show above average at the very least."
