Position: SS
Team: Mississippi State

Jordan Westburg - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - May : "Westburg has a compact right-handed swing and possesses the bat speed and strength to provide 20 or more homers on an annual basis. He lacks consistency at the plate because he has a very aggressive, pull-happy approach and sometimes struggles with pitch recognition and managing the strike zone."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - May 13th: "He’s been more of a doubles and gap hitter, but has a 6-foot-3, 203-pound frame that could add more weight and allow him to take a step forward in that area. Defensively, Westburg has a shot to stick at shortstop."

Kiley McDaniel - ESPN - May 13th: "Westburg grades out well with big exit velocities and solid defensive projections, but he has more of a power-over-hit approach."

Ian Smith - Prospect 365 - Apr. 26th: "Jordan Westburg possesses above average power and speed, with a decent shot to stick at shortstop defensively to boot. Westburg is another Cape Cod darling, hitting .326/.385/.516, with 4 HR in 25 games for Hyannis last summer. "

Athlon Sports - Mar. 10th: "A big (6'3") shortstop, Westburg’s arm gives him a chance to stay at the position as a pro. He showed steady improvement as a hitter as a sophomore and was even better in the Cape Cod League."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - Jan. 31st : "An aggressive hitter, Westburg tends to strike out at a decent clip, but made strides in the right direction from his freshman to sophomore season, improving his walk rate and cutting his strikeout rate."
