Heston Kjerstad
Ht/Wt: 6' 3"/180 lbs
Position: RF
Team: Arkansas

Heston Kjerstad - Prospect Profile

MLB.com - April: "Kjerstad's strength and bat speed give him well above-average raw power to all fields. He has a complicated swing that features a big hand circle in his load, so he has to be precise with his timing to make it work -- but he has done so in college and was the top performer in the U.S. collegiate team's lineup last summer."

Prospects Live - Mar. 24th: "The power on the other hand is a sure 60 on the scale. Itís a sweet left-handed swing with few holes. Kjerstadís liability is in the field where he grades as an average, maybe a shade below average corner outfielder. He takes poor routes in right field, and isnít smooth by any means, but he does possess a slightly above average arm that should play just fine in left field."

James Weisser - Off The Bench Baseball - Mar. 23rd: "Since heís facing good competition in Florida and the weather is better suited for playing baseball, Veen has a good chance to see his stock rise if he can continue to build on his strong performance."

Dan Zielinki - Baseball Prospect Journal - Mar. 22nd: "The 6-3, 200-pound left-handed hitter uses all parts of the field but is an aggressive hitter, which leads to strikeouts at times. He is a bat-first player who likely will play right fielder in pro ball"

Keith Law - The Athletic - Mar. 16th: "Heís started much more strongly this year, distancing himself a bit from teammate Casey Martin, a shortstop who has struggled to hit out of the gate."

JJ Cooper - Athlon Sports - Mar. 10th: "Kjerstad has some of the best power in the class, but during the summer he also showed steadily improving contact skills and better defense."

Jeff Ellis - 247 Sports - Feb. 14th: "His power is his best tool and, while he has played center for Arkansas, he is likely to find his way to a corner spot. He likely profiles a little better in left field, but should have enough arm for right. He wonít win any awards, but wonít hurt his team in the field."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - Jan. 31st : "He also led all hitters on USA Baseballís collegiate national team last summer, hitting .395/.426/.651 with wood. While Kjerstad doesnít offer much defensive value, heís fine in a corner and has a strong, accurate arm."
