MLB.com - May : "He has a clean and easy delivery and consistently gets his fastball up to 94 mph, while keeping it fairly true. He'll throw the splitter 77-80 mph, and he has shown the ability to miss bats with it, something he did well while pitching in the Cape Cod League."

Carlos Collazo - Baseball America - May 13th: "He’s an above-average defender with excellent hands, and he has plus arm strength with the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Schmitt is a polished hitter with good rhythm and balance and makes hard contact, but he is prone to getting jammed and is still learning to tap into his above-average raw power."
