Matt Wallner
Ht/Wt: 6' 4"/220 lbs
Position: OF
Team: Southern Mississippi

Matt Wallner - Prospect Profile

Baseball America - Carlos Collazo and Teddy Cahill - July 6: "The 2017 Freshman of the Year had a strong sophomore campaign, hitting .351/.474/.618 with 16 home runs. Listed at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he has big raw power and has done a good job of getting to it in games. He profiles well as a right fielder thanks to his plus arm."

MLB.com - Jonathan Mayo - June 8: "Wallner has been a run producer and closer at Southen Miss. While he's mid-to-upper 90s off the mound, his power potential as an outfielder is what should drive his Draft stock. The 6-foot-5 outfielder has plus pop from the left side and is quite athletic for his size."

Through the Fence Baseball - Michael Dault - June 6: Wallner is a two-way player that most think will end up being an outfielder when itís all said and done. His bat is too good for the mound. But make no mistake, his arm is no joke. Heís closer for Southern Miss and has a mid-to-upper 90s fastball with serious life. His bat, however, is intriguing."
