Kolby Allard's Player Profile

Allard took off last summer with strong outings on the showcase circuit, highlighted by him striking out the side in the Perfect Game All American Classic on his way to winning MVP honors for the game. The SoCal southpaw entered his senior season as the top prep pitcher in the draft class.

While Kolby doesn’t offer prototypical size, being listed at 6’ and 180 lbs, he generates plenty of velocity, topping out at 96 and sitting in the low 90s. His breaking ball gives him another potential plus pitch, a hard curve around 80 mph. He hasn’t needed his changeup much in his high school career, so it lags behind his other offerings.

As has been the case with virtually every other top pitcher in the class, Allard suffered an injury in the spring. He was shut down in March with a stress reaction in his back, but should be able to perform in pre-draft workouts. Kolby still figures to go in the first round, but where he’s picked will be dictated by how he looks in May.
