Daz Cameron's Player Profile

The son of a former All Star and Gold Glove winner, Daz figures to be drafted much higher than his father was. Mike, an 18th rounder in 1991, played 17 seasons in the big leagues. The younger Cameron came into the season with the potential to be the top pick, but even after a less than stellar spring, he comfortably fits in the top half of the first round.

Daz offers five tool potential, though the tools need some refining. He’s an excellent athlete with good speed who patrols center field effortlessly and can steal plenty of bases. At the plate, he offers bat speed but needs consistency in his mechanics to make consistent contact.

Cameron’s athleticism and pedigree will get him drafted in the first round, but the question is how high? He’s been connected to Houston, who picks twice in the Top 5. He could also fall toward the middle of the round. There are some very talented prep outfielders in this year’s class and Cameron may turn out being the best of the bunch.
