Brendan Rodgers's Player Profile

While Rodgers doesn’t evoke the same emotions from scouts as former #1 picks such as Bryce Harper or Justin Upton, the prep shortstop from Florida offers what may be the safest pick in the draft. The Longwood native has been seen plenty over the past year, performing well over the showcase and tournament circuit.

At 6’1 and 195 lbs, Brendan has good size for a shortstop and figures to stay there as a pro. He has plus speed and natural actions, along with a very strong arm. At the plate, he offers some bat speed and a line drive stroke that should result in gap power, allowing him to offer value on both sides of the ball.

There may be guys with more upside, but with the amount of pitcher injuries at the top of the class, combined with Rodgers’ likelihood to stick in the middle of the diamond after signing, he should expect to hear his name called very early come June.
