Tyler Kolek's Player Profile

Fastball – Simply put, Kolek has the best Fastball of the prep class, and maybe of any pitcher in the entire draft class college included. It routinely hits the 97-99 range, and some have seen triple digits on their radar. He doesn’t Command it exceptionally well yet, but if that comes, look out.

Curve – It’s not a consistent pitch, but when Kolek is at his best it sits in the high 70’s with plenty of break and depth. He has a tendency to not get on top of the pitch, however, and it loses its depth and it becomes more of a spike Curve ball.

Change – Kolek has good arm Speed on the pitch, but it’s mostly a show-me offering at this point and there’s very little movement and he doesn’t have great feel for it yet.

Command – Like most high-school pitchers, Kolek’s Command is still developing, though it doesn’t appear to be a huge concern at this point. He comes from a high three-quarters slot, and repeats his delivery fairly well for a teenager. I don’t see an elite strike thrower, but he certainly can hit his spots well enough to start at the next level.
