Sean Newcomb's Player Profile

Fastball – Newcomb’s fastball sat in the high 80’s in high school, but has progressed into a plus offering that will touch 97 and sit in the low to mid 90’s.

Slider – Newcomb hasn’t shown a ton of consistency with his slider, but it flashed plus over the summer at 82-84 with late bite and tilt.

Change – There’s no noticeable arm action on the pitch and Newcomb has decent feel for the pitch, and it projects to be an average third offering at the next level.

Command – Throwing strikes has been somewhat of an issue for Newcomb – he walked 37 batters in 72 innings last year – but it was better of the summer (everything was). He repeats his delivery fairly well from a high three-quarters slot, and no scouts have been overly concerned with the arm action that I’ve talked to yet.
