Michael Gettys's Player Profile

Hit/On-base – The biggest concern scouts have with Gettys is the hit tool, as he’s struggled with better breaking stuff and his swing is a bit awkward; particularly in its finish. As impressive as the other tools are, they are useless if he can’t hit.

Power – Getty’s has a good guild and good bat speed, and projects to have above-average power numbers at the professional level. His swing has a natural lift, but that swing needs to be retooled badly so assuming it will keep that loft is probably a mistake.

Speed– Getty’s can absolutely fly, capable of getting to anything in centerfield and making a difference when on base.

Glove – If there’s a prep player that you would call a lock to stay in centerfield in this class, it’s Gettys. He uses his plus speed to make plays in the outfield, and also has one of the strongest throwing arms of any prep outfielder I’ve seen. Even if Gettys has to move to right, he’s a difference maker with his arm and he’ll be able to get to balls in the corner very quickly.
