Michael Chavis's Player Profile

Hit / On-base – Chavis has a tendency to over swing, but at his best he has a solid swing with quick hands through the zone and the ability to hit the ball hard to left and right field. That hasn’t been on display enough, however.

Power – Chavis isn’t very big, but he is strong with above-average bat speed and is one of the few players in this class that has shown above-average power both in batting practice and in games.

Speed – Again, he doesn’t look it, but Chavis is a solid athlete and has above-average speed that could handle a corner outfield position.

Glove – I would give Chavis a chance to play third, though I think long term he’s going to end up in right field. He has the arm strength to handle either position, though, and he’s certainly athletic enough to give the hot corner a try. I’ve also heard scouts suggest that he’d be a fit behind the plate, and with a quick release I think that could be a possibility, as well.
