Luke Weaver's Player Profile

Fastball – Weaver isn’t the biggest guy in the class – nor close – but he had one of the best fastballs of the summer; sitting 92-94 and touching 97 while he was playing with Team USA.

Curve – The breaking ball is actually more of a slurve and is the biggest concern for scouts right now, sitting in the high 70’s with only average spin and no real depth or bite. This will have to get better if Weaver wants to go in the first round come June.

Change – Weaver’s best secondary pitcher is his change-up, which sits in the low 80’s without much movement but Weaver has good arm speed and there’s some deception to the pitch.

Command – Weaver is able to get all of his pitches over for strikes, and generally hits his spots. He has a compact delivery with a clean arm action and generally repeats his actions well. He’s not pinpoint, but he certainly will throw enough strikes to be a starter, assuming a team believes that he has the secondary stuff to stay away from the bullpen.
