Kyle Freeland's Player ProfileFastball – Freeland was 90-92 over the summer, occasionally touching 94 with a bit of sink. Based on his frame and arm strength, many believe that there’s projection left in Freeland’s left arm.
Slider – Freeland throw’s his slider at two different speeds. The harder one reaches 83-85 and acts almost like and bears into right handed hitters hand. The softer slider is 79-82, with more break but it’s less effective and won’t get quality right-handed hitters out.
Change – Freeland’s change is at times his best pitch; he has very good feel for it and it sits in the mid 80’s with solid arm speed and some movement.
Command – It wasn’t great over his sophomore season, but Freeland’s command was very good over the Cape, hitting his spots and throwing strikes on a consistent level. He repeats his delivery well and his arm action is clean.
