Grant Holmes's Player Profile
Fastball There isnt much projection left in Holmes right arm, but he consistently pumps out 93 mile-per-hour fastballs with one of the fastest arms in the draft, occasionally touching 95 with occasional run and sink.Curve Holmes best pitch is easily his curve ball, a nasty pitch that sits 82-84 with ridiculous spin and depth. I would take Holmes breaking ball over anyone in this class sans Carlos Rodon and Jeff Hoffman.
Change The general consensus I had heard prior to seeing Holmes was that his Change was solid average, but I saw it flash plus in San Diego, with feel for the pitch and good arm speed.
Command Holmes generally throws strikes and has a good feel for pitching, and I think he projects to have at least average command at the next level. He does a good job of repeating his delivery from a high three-quarter slot, though the arm action at times can be short.
